James Winston Pendergrass

3-5-1941—11-24-1968 

James was born Mar. 5, 1941 in Russell to Mr. and Mrs. A.H. Pendergrass.  After high school, James worked as a mechanic.  He was employed by the city for several years before he moved to Garden City.  He returned to Russell in July to work in the oil fields.  He was killed instantly Nov. 24, 1968 in a motorcycle-car crash on K-96 about four miles west of Hutchinson, enroute to Russell.  The car was driven by two Russell Co. youth returning to Hutch Juco. 

James was survived by his wife, Peggy (Fuller); 2 daughters from a previous marriage, Brenda & Melinda; his mother, Mrs. A.H. Pendergrass and a sister Janice Ludewick of Wichita.
